For your perfect tropical Hawaiian dream wedding, Honu Kai House offers a spacious garden setting with lots of options to stage the ideal wedding and celebrate your joyous occasion. If you are planning a beach ceremony, Honu Kai is a perfect compliment for your reception. Ambiance, plantation charm, private and tranquil, plenty of parking . . . it’s all right here at Honu Kai!

The large manicured open lawn area, splashed with sunshine, is a lovely place for your ceremony. The size of the lawn offers a wide open space to set up decorated chairs and is surrounded by tropical greenery. Romantic backdrops are varied and offer different views. There are twin coconut palm trees to border the photos, or perhaps the lush vegetation with various flowers and multiple shades of green as a jungle canvas, or there’s a bit more open space with huge old growth trees and tall pines reaching to the sky. It’s quiet, peaceful and truly leaves you with a ‘Garden of Eden’ impression. Orchids sprinkled on the lawn make a lovely aisle for guests to be ushered down and for the bride and groom to make their entry. Casually elegant in our Hawaiian sunshine, romance is in the air!

A short walk around the house moves the party to the expansive deck area for your reception. It is surrounded by trees with both covered and open areas. Perfect for weather changes! There’s lots of room to set up tables, a band and dance zone, or a buffet line. You are free to decorate as you wish with full license to be creative. The spacious living room opens to the deck through sliding glass doors and adds more space for guests or buffet tables. The upper deck offers another separate area for entertaining, with its ocean views and above it all atmosphere.

Early evening or night time receptions at Honu Kai House are very romantic. The garden is lighted at night; with spots on the palms and on the big old growth trees, and lights down the driveway create a cozy jungle atmosphere . . . add some tiki torches and kick up the island feel! Kona stars are stunning at night, or a full moon creates shadows, it is so bright.

Honu Kai House offers great Big Island accommodation for your family and friends to be close and share in the excitement. A great option to keep everyone from being too spread out, and allows for party fun without having to drive. Slightly cooler temperatures at our 900’ elevation offer a very comfortable environment, about 5 - 10F less than at sea level. Standard day temperature is around 82 and cools to around 70 at night.

The owners are happy to work with you, recommend various caterers & restaurants, photographers, florists, hula dancers, celebrants, rental companies and other specific services to make your wedding a perfect tropical dream.

Honu Kai can accomodate up to 70 people. There is a $750 site fee for groups staying at Honu Kai. For events without stays the fee is $1,500. Payment in advance, security deposits and hold harmless agreement apply.
